Welcome to Design BC.
Design is your entry into the world of art. What you learn in this class will be applicable to any kind of art you ever make. Or how you dress. Or what colors you choose for your room. Or what kind of logo you choose for your own business (someday in the near future)
Even this site is "designed". As a member of this class, you will act as a collaborator and contributor to these pages. Together we will explore the foundation of art: design using the elements and principles of art.
Welcome!

Elements and Principles of Art
Art is like cooking. The elements are your ingredients. The principles are recipes in the cookbook-the multiple ways that you use the same set of ingredients.
If you use your ingredients knowledgeably, you'll be able to create a work of art. Just like anyone can learn how to make good food, anyone can learn how to make good art through learning and practice.
On this site you will see pages devoted to the elements and principles. They are:
ELEMENTS: LINE, COLOR, SHAPE, FORM, SPACE, TEXTURE, VALUE
PRINCIPLES: MOVEMENT, VARIETY/CONTRAST, REPETITION, EMPHASIS, UNITY/HARMONY, RYTHYM, BALANCE
